Simply adding mobile or technology to a course does not make it student-centred. The D-School approach is one way to begin rethinking your course activities by getting you to “think big” and then ask why and how to implement your idea. Use the course redesign template (link will allow you to save a copy onto your Google Doc drive) to redesign one of your course activities. In the first row, you will see an example. 2. There is so much knowledge inside of each of us. We can tap this for problem solving or any kind of knowledge sharing or learning activities. One very useful Liberating Structure for this is Discovery and Action Dialog, or D.A.D. Do this challenge in pairs or small groups. For the F2F events, we’ll work in pairs or trios. Online you can do this with another person in a chat room, Google Hangout, Skype or in any web meeting tool. It is more… »
Tell us something about the Agora to celebrate! You have walked the Agora, listened to tweeting birds, seen daily oddities. This Challenge is easy and designed to help you practice using the Challenge Bank. We have assembled a collection of animated GIFs that express celebration– follow this link to see one randomly chosen for you (the link will open in a new browser window). Think of a short sentence (one that will fit in a tweet) that says how this celebrates something you did in the more… »
Combine (or “remix”) multiple OERs from multiple sources, of multiple media types (text, image, audio, video) and create a “new” OER from them. For example: http://trusoundcamp.net/ uses tutorials on recording from NSpireD2, editing from WikiEducator, and activity challenges from the DS106 assignment bank. And the site itself is shared back openly using a Creative Commons license.
Identify one or more OER from the suggested OER collections or elsewhere, and build a simple learning activity around them. Then share a description of that activity as a response to this challenge.
Use one of the suggested OER collections or open search tools below, and identify some open online resources that you might use in your teaching. Are they ready for you to use already? If not, what would you need to do to use them? Share them back via responses to this challenge. Utilice una de las colecciones de OER o abiertas herramientas de búsqueda de abajo, e identificar algunos recursos en línea abiertos que usted puede utilizar en su enseñanza. more… »
Scenarios can be developed for any purpose and for any subject matter, and to any degree of complexity. You can use as much technology as you wish in the scenarios, from simple narratives and visuals to the use of high-tech multimedia. In this Challenge you will explore and use open media resources to enhance your scenario and your students’ experience.
What application could scenario based learning have in a class you teach? Think about topics in your courses that require problem solving, critical thinking and analysis. In this Challenge you will develop a simple low-tech scenario that you can try out with one of your classes during the Agora online component in the Fall. Read through the Scenario Based Learning Guide & Templates. (A print copy will be provided in-session, a PDF copy is here.) Carefully consider your teaching context, more… »
Scenario-based learning uses real-life situations to engage learners in a problem, process or decision that they have to collaboratively resolve. It provides excellent opportunities for improving critical thinking and problem solving skills, and allows for assessment of the learning process. In this Challenge you will be immersed in a real-life scenario, challenged to make decisions, and asked to reflect on outcomes!
[slideshare id=47118876&doc=googleformswix-150417104232-conversion-gate01]
